‘Working together to raise achievement'

‘Pupils’ behaviour is exemplary. They move around the large site calmly with little or no need for staff intervention. At break times, pupils use the space available to them sensibly. They chat with friends, have lunch together, read or play sports outside.’  - Ofsted 2023

The House system continues to stimulate ‘healthy competition’ throughout the school with the aim of raising achievement of all its pupils. Each of the five Houses, all of which have been named after a bird of nature, namely, Swift, Albatross, Eagle, Falcon and Dove, continue to develop their own identity. Collectively, this has a positive impact on the whole-school ethos. Inter-House Football, Basketball, Table Tennis, Chess and Netball are just some of the competitions on offer throughout the academic year. Debating, Quizzes and ‘themed weeks’ have also helped to ensure that pupils are fully engaged in a wide range of extra-curricular activities; enjoying themselves while they achieve.  Film Club, which runs during lunchtimes, remains extremely popular amongst all pupils across the school.

The House System provides every pupil with the opportunity to become well-rounded individuals, broadening their own learning experiences both inside and outside school.  As we continue to harness the energy, enthusiasm, diversity of culture and religion at Kingsdale Foundation School, the House System provides pupils with a firm platform on which to make a continuous and positive contribution to the school community.

All Houses, annually elect House Captains and House Officers to help motivate and lead their House. This encourages pupils to develop early leadership skills and undertake responsibilities that contribute to the success of their House. The House System continues to develop pupils spiritually, morally, socially and culturally and ensures that they become individuals who, not only achieve their potential while at Kingsdale, but develop the knowledge, understanding and life skills to become valuable citizens of their local and global communities. Every member of staff is attached to a given House. Parents as well as School Governors are also linked to a House.

With the involvement of all connected with Kingsdale, the House System continues to be an integral part in helping to transform our school. As it evolves, we know that it will become the envy of all urban schools.
