Citizenship

In Citizenship, students are introduced to the concepts such asHuman Rights, Democracy, Finance, and the Rule Of Law. Students are also provided with an amazing opportunity to create and develop their own multimedia campaign on a human rightsissue they are passionate about. The tailored curriculum delivered by the department serves as a preparatory course for the GCSE in Citizenship Studies; it is the cornerstone of the school’s promotion of British values.

The course focuses on how citizens can play an active role in democratic politics, working together for a better society, locally, nationally, and globally. In doing this, students engage with the key principles of power, democracy, the operation of government and the legal system. Citizenship empowers students by encouraging a sense of pride in personal identity, a sense of belonging and respect for diversity. These are crucial life skills for the world beyond the classroom in a city as diverse and dynamic as London.
