Film Studies

Students at Key Stage 5 (16-18) also have the opportunity to take Film Studies at Advanced Level. Kingsdale’s Film Studies is a dynamic journey into some of the best movies of the last one hundred years, covering everything from the punk-rock experimentation of early Soviet Montage to the blistering intensity of modern World Cinema. The curriculum also makes important cultural stops at the films of Alfred Hitchcock and Jean-Luc Godard, as well as taking in the best auteur work of Coppola, Glazer, and The Coen Brothers. Finally, as part of their coursework students are required to write and direct their own short film, an exciting challenge that allows them to apply what they’ve learned about the art of film making in their own uniquely creative way.
